Why Games Captivate Us

Four of us sat at a table while the cool mid-morning air pushed through the cracks of the house. It wasn’t run down, per se, but it also wasn’t built within the last 60 years, and the long, cold Michigan winters had taken their toll. We were killing time while trying to make the most of it. Two coffees accompanied the endeavor, the nostalgia of Checker Records Coffee & Music store a necessary touchpoint for those of us who were gone come to visit again. Laughter alleviated the headache pain brought on from the night before as hands fidgeted over the two dice and quarter that remained from some unknown prior…
